Raised inside the Rosalie & Alva School of Ballet and Allied Arts, Matt’s childhood was a swirl of music, movement, and backstage innovation. His parents, both professional dancers with careers in movies and on the stage, passed down more than a love of the art—they passed down a passion for building what dancers need most.
Back in 1952, his father changed the game by inventing the very first adjustable height ballet barre. It wasn’t about glory. It was about solving a real problem for real dancers. That same mindset lives on through Matt and the company he built: Alvas.
Matt took that legacy and built Alvas, a specialty company devoted to creating everything needed to build a dance space from the ground up. Barres, Floors, and Mirrors—Oh my! From the basics to revolutionary ideas, Alvas became the go-to source for dancers, studio owners, and performing arts centers across the country.
